Urban Waste Management services over Easter weekend and upcoming public holidays

31 March 2023

Refuse collection is scheduled to take place as normal on upcoming public holidays. Residents are also advised to take note of public holiday operating times for our drop-off facilities

The City of Cape Town's Urban Waste Management Directorate wishes to advise residents that refuse collection services are scheduled to take place as normal over the following upcoming public holidays:

  • Good Friday: 7 April 2023
  • Easter Monday: 10 April 2023
  • Freedom Day: 27 April 2023
  • Worker's Day: 1 May 2023

As normal, residents are requested to ensure that their bins are placed outside for collection by 06:00 on the scheduled refuse collection day. Residents are encouraged not to wait for the refuse collection vehicle to enter their street before taking the bin to the pavement. The collection teams might arrive much earlier than usual as there is likely to be reduced traffic congestion on the roads on these days.

Residents should please note that there is a possible risk of refuse collection delays due to various factors. If your refuse is not collected on the scheduled day, please do not leave it outside overnight. Take it out again each day until it has been collected.

Drop-off facilities

Please also note that drop-off facilities will be closed on Good Friday, and will operate according to public holiday hours on Easter Monday. Please see the link below for info:
